Tommy Burns died around 4am on 15th May 2008 after a long battle with skin cancer. He was a Celtic FC legend playing for them between 1974 and 1989. He also managed the club in the 1990s before Wim Jansen took over in 1997. He then went south to manage Reading FC. Recently he was first team and youth coach at Celtic. Married for 28 years and he had four children.

oh how i wish u wer still at parkhead tommy, u would hav made sure the club would never had got in2 the mess they hav in the last 2 seasons. u must b lookin down & thinking how could the club u loved so much end up like this. but now we lenny is in here`s hopeing things get better as he`s the same as me & u a celtic men thro & thro. Tommy, you were an inspiration to thousands of people. You were a fine example of how Scottish football should be, the kind of person who could bring anyone together and that is why you were loved by not only Celtic fans but other fans too. You were a true professional with a huge heart and I am proud to have seen you play, coach and manage. You are a true legend and will be missed by everyone who knew you or knew of you.
